Help with feeding, watering, enclosure cleaning and sanitation, enrichment, husbandry, and routine animal care.
Scaly Solutions Rescue, Inc. depends on dedicated volunteers to help us rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home reptiles while providing responsible reptile education to our community.
Whether you have years of reptile experience or are completely new to reptiles, there are many ways to get involved.
Training is provided for volunteer activities as appropriate.
Volunteers under 18 require parent or guardian consent.
Animal Care
Help with feeding, watering, enclosure cleaning and sanitation, enrichment, husbandry, and routine animal care.
Support educational programs, school visits, community outreach, reptile expos, and responsible reptile education.
Assist with enclosure setup, cleaning, organization, maintenance, and projects that keep the rescue operating safely.
Help with adoption events, reptile expos, fundraising activities, community events, and other rescue programs.
Support administration, social media, photography, videography, technology, graphic design, fundraising, and other projects.
Put veterinary, medical, animal husbandry, construction, education, nonprofit, technology, or other professional experience to work.

Our team will review your application and determine which volunteer opportunities may be a good match.
Approved volunteers complete orientation, safety training, and any role-specific training required for their volunteer role.
Once onboarding is complete, you’ll be ready to support the rescue in your approved volunteer role.
Reptile experience is not required for every volunteer role. For the safety of our animals and volunteers, completing the volunteer application does not automatically authorize animal handling.
Handling privileges are assigned based on training, demonstrated competency, species, animal temperament, safety considerations, and organizational needs.
Volunteers may begin with non-handling responsibilities and progress to animal-care or handling activities after completing appropriate training.

No. Previous reptile experience is welcome, but it is not required for every volunteer role. Training requirements vary depending on the responsibilities of each position.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Applicants under 18 require consent from a parent or legal guardian and may have additional restrictions based on their age and assigned duties.
Possibly. Animal handling is not automatically granted to volunteers. Handling privileges are based on training, demonstrated competency, species, individual animal considerations, safety requirements, and authorization from Scaly Solutions Rescue.
Yes. Students and others seeking required service hours are welcome to apply. Please include the number of hours required and your completion deadline on your application. Placement and the availability of sufficient hours are not guaranteed.
Volunteer opportunities vary. Some roles may involve regular ongoing shifts, while others are event-based or project-based. We consider your availability when matching you with appropriate opportunities.
Requirements depend on your assignment. Volunteers performing animal-care or facility duties should wear appropriate clothing and closed-toe footwear. Additional personal protective equipment may be required for certain activities.
Absolutely. Volunteers can support the rescue through education, events, administration, fundraising, social media, photography, facility projects, and other activities that do not require animal handling.
